Biblical Principals of Health

WHI was founded on the biblical principals of health.  Today, let’s take a journey back in time and explore the age-old wisdom of the Bible when it comes to living our best, healthiest lives.  Turns out, those ancient scriptures are packed with pearls of wisdom that are just as relevant today as they were back in the day. So, grab a healthy beverage and let’s dive in!

First things first, let’s talk about food. The Bible is chock-full of guidance when it comes to what we put into our bodies. Take, for example, the story of Daniel and his buddies, who opted for veggies and water over the king’s rich food and wine (Daniel 1:8-16). Spoiler alert: they ended up looking healthier and stronger than their meat-eating counterparts. Coincidence? I think not.

Next up, let’s talk about rest. In a world that glorifies hustle culture and burning the midnight oil, the Bible reminds us of the importance of rest. After all, even God took a day off after creating the universe (Genesis 2:2-3). So, whether it’s a good night’s sleep or a lazy Sunday afternoon nap, don’t feel guilty about taking some time to recharge your batteries.

And let’s not forget about exercise. While the Bible might not have CrossFit classes or SoulCycle studios, it does emphasize the importance of physical activity. Hebrews 12:12-13 states, “Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed.” After all, our bodies are temples, right? So, whether it’s a leisurely stroll through nature or a vigorous game of soccer with friends, find what moves you and do it with gusto.

Last but not least, let’s talk about community. The Bible is all about coming together and supporting one another, and that includes our health journeys. Whether it’s a prayer group, a walking club, or a cooking class, find your tribe and lean on them for support and encouragement along the way (Hebrews 10:24-25).

So, there you have it. The biblical principles of health may be ancient, but they’re just as relevant today as they were thousands of years ago. From nourishing our bodies with wholesome food to finding rest and community, the Bible offers timeless wisdom for living our best, healthiest lives. So, here’s to embracing these ancient truths and thriving in body, mind, and spirit. Cheers to health and happiness!
