WATER: AM, I SICK OR AM I THIRSTY?

Water, the one and only, the only original beverage. There is no substitute for water. Did you know that depending on your age you are made up of 60-80% water? You can do without food for weeks or even months but without water you will die in 3-4 days.

Did you know that 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated? This means that most of us do not drink enough water. You may be thinking I drink other fluids such as tea, coffee, soft drinks or juices. Drinks like coffee, tea, colas and energy drinks contain caffeine, which is a diuretic, meaning it causes you to urinate fluid out of your body which can be counterproductive to proper hydration. Sodas, juices and other manufactured drinks contain large amounts of sugar or artificial sweeteners which contribute to a variety of health problems. Water really is the one and only, there is no substitute, plus it is inexpensive and readily available.

Some of the effects of water shortage are daytime fatigue, lack of mental clarity, head aches or a dry mouth. These are some of the more obvious effects of lack of water. Dehydration can also contribute to a variety of other health problems such as many types of pain, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and a variety of other chronic health problems. Some suggest that drinking water and minimizing other beverages may be the single most important thing you can do for your health. Make no mistake, it will improve your health to drink an adequate amount of water.

ACTION TO TAKE

WHI can support you to take action:

· Tell us what improvements you hope to observe in your health to understand your WHI goal.

· Make a commitment to work toward 6 or more 8 oz glasses of water daily while minimizing other beverages.

· Track your water intake throughout the day using the WHI app to help track your actions and progress. This information will be incorporated into your Personal Health Report.

· Use the WHI generated Reminders to drink and document in the App.

· Try to drink outside of meals times for better digestion and results, drink 15 minutes before eating and 30 minutes after eating.

· People often benefit from having a drinking bottle they fill two or three times a day depending on the size to provide cup equivalents to keep things simple.

· Your body makes it take a while to adjust so relax as you take simple but important steps to improving your health.

· Learn by tracking your goals and reviewing your progress in your personal health report.

· Notice how you are feeling and how you are doing.

· Learn what other members collectively do to identify trends and best results.

· Learn from other studies and research that will be made available.

· Provide a testimonial of the impact your changes have made on your health.

Dr. Masaru Emoto studied water crystals and the impact words spoken over water and types of music played for water had on the water samples. He found that if you spoke love over the water the ice crystals of the water are symmetrical and beautiful. However, if you spoke negatively to the water like saying, “I hate you” the water crystals were ugly and distorted. The same similar effect was achieved with music. Classical music produced beautiful water crystals while heavy metal music caused a distorted crystal formation.

If this can be true for water why not people as we are mostly water? So, remember to speak kind, loving words and blessings over your water, your food (mostly water), yourself, your family and others…
